Peter North has had a distinguished career in the automotive industry, in management consulting and as non-executive director of ASX companies.

In his automotive career he held top management positions in Canada, USA and Australia, including Co-Director of Ford Motor Company’s role in the North American Automotive Free Trade agreement, General Marketing Manager of Ford Australia and Managing Director of British Leyland Australia. After 3 years with McKinsey he established Streeton Consulting Pty Ltd, advising leading companies in many industries over several decades.

Mr North has been non-executive director of Cochlear Ltd, Leighton Holdings Ltd, Leighton Asia Ltd and of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering.  He has also been Chairman of several listed companies in wine, heavy engineering and bulk transport. He is a founder and former Chairman of The Warren Centre for Advanced Engineering, a non-profit institute within the University of Sydney set up by the engineering industry and profession, to pursue excellence and innovation in advanced engineering.  In 2005 he was made Member of the Order of Australia “for services to engineering and to business through the Warren Centre for Advanced Engineering and as a contributor to the advancement of innovative technology in manufacturing and other industries”.

Mr North is Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical, University of Sydney),  Master in Business Administration (with Distinction, Harvard University), a Fellow of the Academy of Technology and Engineering, the Australian Institute of Directors and the Australian Institute of Management, and an Honorary Fellow of Engineers Australia.
